The holidays… and the famous "I'm bored"
A long car journey, a rainy afternoon at the campsite, a quiet evening in the holiday cottage. The children start going round in circles and a screen looks like the only way out. Coming up with an idea on the spot, with the right materials and clear rules, isn't always easy.
A challenge ready to go, page after page
The book offers 100 challenges in 8 worlds: Express, Creative, Logic, Move, Outdoors, Calm, Together and Adventure. Each page shows the time, the number of players, the materials and the difficulty. Your child reads the mission, goes for it, then writes down the result. Many challenges are made for the holidays: on the road, at the beach, in the countryside or indoors when it rains.
What's inside
Clear instructions
Each challenge fits on one page: a short mission, a bonus to go further and lines to note the result.
Very little to pack
57 of the 100 challenges need just paper and a pencil, or nothing at all. The materials are listed on every page.
For every moment
Challenges from 5 minutes to an hour, and a final half-day adventure for the whole family: something quick while you wait, or a bigger project for the afternoon.
A guide for adults
At the back of the book, a hint and an example for each of the 100 challenges, and the answers to the puzzles. Enough to get your child going again without doing it for them.
Progress they can see
A progress chart to tick off, 5 badges to unlock, a top 10 and a "Screen-Free Hero" certificate for completing all 100 challenges.

Questions
What's in the PDF?
140 pages: the colour cover, a licence page, then the 138 pages of the book. At the start: a "This book belongs to" page, how to use the book and a quick guide. Then the 100 challenges, one per page. At the end: a progress chart, 5 badges, a top 10, a page to invent challenge no. 101, a "Screen-Free Hero" certificate and a guide for adults with a hint and an example for every challenge.
What size are the pages? Can I print on A4?
The pages are 8 × 10 in (20.3 × 25.4 cm). They fit on A4 or US Letter paper: print at actual size, or choose "Fit to page" if your printer trims the edges. The pages are in colour and stay readable in black and white.
How do I receive the file?
Right after payment, you receive an email with a link to download the PDF. Nothing is sent by post: you print the pages at home, all at once or as the holidays go on.
Is it a translation of a French book?
Yes. It is the English edition of "100 défis sans écran pour les vacances" by Zé (Éditions Zé), translated and adapted for English-speaking families: the word games, names and examples were rewritten in English. Same 138 pages, same layout.
Can I print the pages for several children?
Yes, for use within your family: print a challenge page for each child, or the whole book again next summer. Please don't share or resell the file: the licence page at the start of the PDF explains what's allowed.
What age is it for? Does an adult need to be there?
The book is designed for ages 7 to 12. It reminds children to always ask an adult before going outside, moving something, using scissors or doing an experiment, and some challenges list an adult in the materials, for example near water or after dark.
