"I'm bored"… and a screen is never far away
A rainy afternoon, a long weekend, the school holidays: you need an idea, right now. Something that suits their age, the time you have and what you can find at home. Without an idea ready to go, the screen usually wins.
One challenge per page, ready to go
Each page sets out a clear challenge: the mission, how long it takes, how many players, what you need and a difficulty level from 1 to 3 stars. Your child picks one, gets ready and goes for it, usually with paper, a pencil or things from around the house. If they get stuck, the guide for adults at the back gives a hint or an example for every challenge.
What's inside
8 worlds for every mood
Express, Creative, Logic, Move, Outdoors, Calm, Together and Adventure: 12 or 13 challenges in each, to think, make or move.
On their own or with others
68 challenges can be done solo. The other 32 are for two or more players, with family or friends.
Simple materials
Most challenges need paper, pencils or everyday objects. Some need nothing at all.
They can see their progress
They tick off each challenge on the progress chart, earn badges from 10 to 100 challenges, then fill in their "Screen-Free Hero" certificate.
A guide for you
28 pages for adults: how to help without taking over, a hint or an example for every challenge, and the answer when a puzzle has one.

Questions
Is the PDF A4 or US Letter?
Neither: the pages are 8 × 10 in (20.3 × 25.4 cm), the size of the original paperback. They print without any problem on A4 or US Letter paper: choose "Actual size" or "Fit to page" in the print window. A small white margin is left around the page.
How do I print it at home?
With an ordinary printer and plain paper. The pages are in colour and stay readable in black and white. Print the whole book or just a few challenges, single or double-sided.
How do I receive the book?
Right after payment, you receive an email with a link to download the PDF. It's a digital file: no printed book is sent by post.
Is it a translation of a French book?
Yes. It is the English edition of "100 défis sans écran - 7 à 12 ans" by Zé (Éditions Zé), translated and adapted for English-speaking families: the word games and examples were rewritten in English. Same 138 pages, same layout. The PDF opens with the colour cover, then a licence page: personal and family use, print as often as you need, no sharing of the file.
Can I print the pages again?
Yes, for use at home: print a page for each child, or the whole book again for the next holidays. The lines to fill in, the progress chart and the certificate start from scratch.
Does my child need an adult?
68 challenges can be done solo. The book reminds children to always ask an adult before moving something, using scissors, going outside or doing an experiment. The adult guide helps you give a hint without doing it for them.
