Small letters, cramped grids, and the fun fades

In many puzzle books, the grids are small and the letters packed tightly together. You squint, you lose your place, and the pleasure of hunting for words is gone before the grid is finished.

One big grid per page, letters that are easy to read

Each page has a theme, a 13 × 13 grid of bold 23 pt capitals in squares of about 1.2 cm (½ in), and the 15 words to find, each with a box to tick. Words run left to right, downwards or diagonally, never backwards. When you have finished, the bottom of the page tells you where to find the solution.

Questions

Is the PDF A4 or US Letter?

Neither exactly: the pages are 21 × 27.9 cm (8.25 × 11 in), as wide as A4 and as tall as US Letter. They print fine on either: choose “Actual size” or “Fit to page” in the print window. On A4 you simply get a little more white space.

How do I print it at home?

With an ordinary printer and plain paper. Every page is black and white, so no colour ink is needed. Print the whole book or just a few puzzles, plus the solution pages if you want them to hand (pages 96 to 140 of the book, 98 to 142 of the PDF).

How do I receive the book?

Right after payment, you receive an email with a link to download the PDF. It’s a digital file: no printed book is sent by post.

Is it a translation of a French book?

It is the English edition of “Mots mêlés en gros caractères – Volume 2”, Zé’s second large print word search book for French readers. A word search can’t be translated letter by letter, so all 90 puzzles were made afresh in English, with themes and words chosen for English speakers, in the same layout: one big grid per page, 15 words, solutions at the back. The PDF opens with the colour cover, then a licence page: personal and family use, print as often as you need, no sharing of the file.

I have volume 1. Are these puzzles different?

Yes. All 90 puzzles in volume 2 are new, with a fresh set of themes.

Can I print the puzzles again?

Yes, for personal use: reprint a puzzle to do it again, or print a copy for each player in the family.
